A dose of Wednesday motivation
Here's an exciting analogy. We all know the domino effect. But did you know that a domino can knock over another domino that is one and a half times larger than itself? I didn't.
If you have a moment, please watch the video below:
I have spoken a few times of Kaizen; the philosophy of achieving goals by employing small, incremental changes rather than implementing the sudden, massive overhaul. In the blog post linked, I write about how important it is not to undervalue our impact on the world because even our smallest contribution can have a large effect.
But here it is in action! Look how small that first domino is. Look how large the last domino is! The energy spent pushing the first one over is so small - it's barely any effort at all - but the outcome is extraordinary.
Think of the implications this has for our lives. If we apply our energy in the right places, we can change everything. The important thing is to apply the effort in the right place and in the right direction. The frustrating thing is that we can't see our own personal line of dominoes but we know it's there. We just have to keep on working; keep on applying energy to things that feel right.
Never underestimate the little things.
